Who We Are
Lee Richards is the founder and director of Upcycled Creative.
With a passion for antique fairs and searching for original items, Lee began exploring upcycling in 2008.
He was able to grow his creative side with his personal projects and at the same time contribute to something he felt truly passionate about – the environment. With such a large volume of waste and discarded materials in this day and age, he felt his contribution to conserve precious global resources would have a positive impact, albeit small.
Coming from a sales, management and operations background within the motor trade for 20 years, Lee decided in 2011 to turn his passion into a business. A completely different but yet exciting direction that has continued to gain momentum and recognition ever since.
Upcycled Creative became an #SBS Award Winner in February 2015, a business incentive on Twitter by the multi-millionaire and former ‘Dragon’ Theo Paphitis, which has lead to a number of beneficial partnerships, including one with the world's largest logistics company DHL.
Inspired by his love of travel and culture, Lee has taken elements of his experience visiting other countries and has implemented them into his upcycled creations, in particular lighting and furniture.
Whether the products are designed for individuals or for large-scale commercial projects, each and every design has an element of fun and individuality with the added benefit of them being eco-friendly!
When Lee isn’t searching for inspiring items to upcycle or working on existing projects in his public workshop, you’ll find him partaking in his other passions; watching Formula 1 or the Rugby! He’s also eager to support and interact with other small businesses to offer a helping hand wherever possible.
